Germany currently does not have nationwide licensing for many beauty services. Hair and cosmetic tattoo, however, are regulated in the country.

These are considered esthetics procedures that require vocational training from a recognised institution for 2-3 years. You will need to pass the examination after training to get a certificate, which is your ticket to legally practice.

Cosmetic tattoo artists must go through a hygiene training program by a recognised institution. You will then be given a certificate upon training completion, which you need to work legally. Although it’s not legally mandated, you are expected to train cosmetic tattooing skills at a recognised school by health inspectors and clients.
