Canada Hair & Beauty Regulations

Most provinces in Canada have no licensing on general beauty services, so our courses are perfect if you want to get up and running fast. There are restrictions in some areas of beauty in most places though. See the charts below to see where your province sits!

Beauty Services

The beauty services we cover are Nail Technology, Soft Gel Nails, Acrygel Nails, Face and Body Waxing, Manicure and Pedicure, Facials and Lash and Brow Tinting & Lash Perming.

The provinces that do not have licensing regulations for these beauty services are as follows:

  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
  • Newfoundland & Labrador
  • Northwest Territories
  • Nunavut
  • Ontario
  • Prince Edward Island
  • Quebec
  • Yukon

If you are not in these provinces, you will need to check with your local authorities to see whether you need further education to provide beauty services in your area.

We also have Spray Tanning that is not regulated in any province of Canada.

Hair Services

The hair services we cover in our courses are Hairdressing and Hair Extensions.

The provinces that do not have licensing for these are:

  • Yukon
  • Quebec
  • British Columbia
  • Newfoundland & Labrador

If you are not in these provinces, you will need to check with your local authorities to see whether you need further education to provide hair services in your area.

Cosmetic Tattoo Services

The cosmetic tattoo services we cover in our courses are Permanent Makeup (Nano Brows, Ombre Brows, Lip Blush / Tattoo, Eyeliner) and Microblading.

All provinces in Canada do not have licensing for these.

As these services involve penetrating the skin, there may be local regulations pertaining to health and safety (for example, sterilization and disposal of needles) and the premises you operate from.
